Best Time to Visit
California is a year-round destination. Much of the state attracts a pleasant Mediterranean climate, with warm, sunny summers and cooler wet winters.
The Golden State has always got something happening: summer is surfing season, spring brings Coachella, autumn is for Yosemite hikes, while winter is a good time to tackle Death Valley.
California actually has a late summer. Hence if you want sun, swimming, and the classic California beach scene you should prefer July to October.
Festival season starts in April with Coachella and Stagecoach, but runs pretty much all year long. October is probably the best month in Southern California. You get the best sunsets and have a nice balance of warm and cool weather.
