If you’re a local guide, travel blogger or a traveller and you’re interested in writing for YourTravelBox, please email us your pitch and writing clips. We welcome useful contribution and we would love to start a partnership with you. We have however created some submission guidelines in order to keep the website content at high standard for our readers.

Submission Guidelines

Content

• We only accept original articles. Please do not submit articles that you have published on another website. Images used in other articles are fine, but the writing should be unique.
• The article should contain at least 800 words but articles between 1,500 – 3,000 words are preferred.
• We are looking for detailed travel guides from your personal travels or your local experience with tips and facts about a destination. We do not accept diary style travel writing. 
• Very good knowledge of subject matter, eg. travel advice, specific destination, photography etc.
• Provide evidence of your writing skills, such as a previous article or something similar. 
• Content should be written in a more active and/or third-person voice. Avoid using “I”, “my” etc.

Pictures

• We only accept original photos. Please note that high resolution, professional images are a component in being chosen as a contributor.
• In some cases, we may be able to provide additional photos.

Editing/Pre-publishing

Once we have received the article we may:

• Add additional internal or external links relevant to the content.
• Make slight changes and tweaks to the text to match the website style and for readability. This will definitely not change what you are saying and our intention to make minor changes.
• Re-order the headings and content slightly based on the pictures and links.
• Edit some of your photos to match the style of YourTravelBox. We may do this only with your permission. If you are happy in advance for us to edit your photos, feel free to send your unedited images and we will do it for you.
• Modify the posts at a later date if any of the information becomes irrelevant (e.g. a suggested restaurant is permanently closed, the quality of services from any provided suggestion drops significantly over time etc.).
• Create a Pinterest sharing image which is a picture with overlaid text.

Links Policy

• Any links to external websites/sources should be relevant and natural.
• Links shall only be to travel related sites and services. No gambling sites etc.
• We always review all links and remove the ones that we don’t believe are relevant to the post and helpful to our readers. Please don’t try to hide links. We spot these and will probably reject the article.
• We may include additional links to the article if we think that they add value to our readers.

What you get in return

• Experience – Experience writing for a high-quality travel website. Any contributions you can then share with potential employers. 
• Author box  and page– A box at the end mentioning you as the author and a bit about you with links to your website and social media profiles. We will also create an Author page for you where all your articles will be listed.
• Social media promotion – A link to the article may be shared through social media accounts such as Instagram Stories (@your.travel.box), Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter. The content may not be shared to all accounts, just some that are appropriate.
• Sharing is caring – You will be sharing and passing your knowledge with travellers around the world.

As a reminder, we only publish informative travel articles that include relevant content, travel tips, knowledge, and insight that will help our readers on their travels, so please consider this when you submit. Due to the volume of contributor requests that we receive, you may only hear back from us if you are chosen to contribute.
